For many people travelling overseas, the availability of good medical facilities is an important factor -particularly if you stay abroad is for an extended period. Visitors to Thailand’s second largest island will be relieved to discover that on Koh Chang, hospitals and other medical facilities are of a very high standard and good quality care is available in the unfortunate occurrence of an accident or illness.

It is a branch of the Trat Hospital. The Clinic provides 24-hour emergency health services including, in critical circumstances, an air ambulance. The international clinic has three beds for observation and runs a series of comprehensive outpatient services including orthopaedic surgery, OB/GYN and a dental clinic. For many international Koh Chang residents and long term stayers, it is the only medical facility they use. Koh Chang Hospital The Koh Chang Hospital is the Thai government facility on the island and is located on the east coast at Dan Mai, quite a distance from the main tourist areas. The hospital has English speaking doctors and is clean and well run, although it does not have the international facilities that the private clinic can offer. The Koh Chang Hospital does however have a X-ray and ultrasound facilities, a maternity unit, dental clinic and a hyperbaric chamber in the event of a diver getting the bends. The Koh Chang Hospital is happy to treat foreigners at much cheaper fees than the International Clinic. For non-emergencies the hospital opens Monday to Friday 8.30-15.30.
