Oversong on the beach – Koh Chang Music Festival

Next Saturday, 31 March, Koh Chang plays host to its first major music festival. Oversong on the Beach is generating a huge amount of excitement on the island and will feature a wide variety of popular Thai artists from many different music genres.

Live music is part of the rhythm of life on Koh Chang with many venues in the island’s popular beach resorts featuring regular performances by locals and occasionally international artists. There have been Koh Chang music festivals in the past, but what makes Oversong on the Beach stand out is the sheer professionalism of the organisers and the high quality of the talent that will feature.

Oversong on the Beach will take place on 31 March from 4pm-1am. The build up to the festival has already been featured in the Thai media, particularly the music press, and there have been ticket sales from across Thailand so Koh Chang is preparing to welcome an influx of music lovers from across the country as well as many tourists.

The festival will take place on Klong Prao Beach, the longest beach on the island located about halfway down Koh Chang’s stunning western coastline. Part of the beach will be sectioned off for the festival and tickets can be purchased in many outlets on the island or online from Thaiticketmajor. Tickets cost just 500 baht and although it is likely that there will be tickets still available on the day, it is best to purchase in advance if possible.

The outstanding feature of the Oversong on the Beach Koh Chang Music Festival is the wide range of different music that will feature. The organisers have ensured that there is something for everyone. The bill is headlined by the enduringly popular Thai rock band Modern Dog. Another huge draw will be Koh – Mr Saxman who’s unique blend of pop jazz saxophone has seen him remain at the top of the Thai charts for over 20 years.

For lovers of the laid back rhythms of the Caribbean, perfect for the beach environment, the Superglasses Ska Ensemble will be playing ska and reggae beats. There will also be blues from the Oodie BluesBand. Other bands featured are Sixty Miles and Canvas.

People of more modern cutting edge tastes are also catered to with a line up of top Thai DJs who are sure to have the party pumping in the early hours of the morning.

Oversong on the Beach marks a real step forward for Koh Chang in terms of big events. The island with its laid back feel, relaxed locals and smiling holidaymakers is the perfect venue for top music acts to perform in a true paradise setting.
